How this savings goal calculator works

Find the monthly savings needed to reach a financial goal based on your current savings, target amount, timeline, and estimated annual interest rate.

Monthly deposit = (goal โˆ’ current balance ร— (1 + monthly rate)months) ร— monthly rate รท ((1 + monthly rate)months โˆ’ 1). If the rate is zero, divide the remaining goal by the number of months.

Formula and assumptions

The calculation uses the values you enter and assumes the stated rate stays constant for the selected period. Actual account results can differ because of rate changes, timing, fees, taxes, rounding, deposits, withdrawals, or provider-specific rules.
